The problem is that this is difficult, because of all the variations
in media playback that Ambulant supports:
- Ambulant on Windows can use DirectX for playback
- Ambulant (post-1.8) on Windows can use ffmpeg for playback
- Ambulant on Mac can use QuickTime for playback
- Ambulant on Mac can use ffmpeg for playback
- Ambulant on Linux uses ffmpeg for playback
At least, for the next release, we support ffmpeg playback on all
platforms. So, this means we can at least give a list of formats that
are always supported by Ambulant, on all platforms. That will include
mpeg-4 (H-264 video and AAC audio) and Ogg-Vorbis and Ogg-Theora.
These two audio/video should cover most modern video encoded with non-
proprietary codecs. And we may have a solution for 3GP video as well.
