This sounds like a very plausible reason. As the preferences used for  
the plugin are hard-coded I would suggest that we disable DTD-checking  
in the next build. There's a benefit to using Xerces, even though it's  
a lot bigger and slower than expat, because it handles non-unicode  
character sets, but I think that document checking is really a  
developer-only feature that shouldn't be enabled in the plugin (at  
least not if it can't be disabled).
