Yes, there are some player control functions accesible through Javascript.
For example, if in Firefox, you click  "File->OpenLocation" and type:
http://www.ambulantplayer.org/Demo-Welcome-PlugIn.shtml
you' see 3 control buttons and in the page source (click "View->Page 
Source") a small piece
of Javascript code that does the job.
